MILLSBORO - Hazel Marie Hastings, formerly of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, surrounded by her loving family in Christiana Hospital. She was 45. Hazel was born Jan. 8, 1963 in Delaware, and was the daughter of Ida Marroni and the late John Marroni & Robert Hastings. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1980, as Class President and attended Goldey Beacom college. She graduated from Del. Tech. with her accounting degree. She enjoyed working in many capacities throughout her life, some include Captains Table in Dewey Beach, National Bank, and Cape May Lewes Ferry, but most importantly, she enjoyed her family and friends, lived each day to its fullest, and loved life. She loved the beach, fishing, great outdoors, spending time with adopted animals, and was the second mom to all of her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hastings; her "Pop", John Marroni; and father, Robert Hastings Sr. She will be missed dearly by her mother, Ida Marroni; siblings, Diane and Thomas Gillespie, Bobbie Wallendorf, Vicki Rausch, and Bob Brooks, Virginia and Brett Monroe, Duck and Trudy Hastings, Jeff and Dee Marroni, and John and Kim Marroni; 15 nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. Numerous friends, extended family, and her animals will miss her dearly. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff at BeeBee and Christiana Hospital, for their compassionate care. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. Services will begin immediately following visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, in Hazel M. Hastings honor. Arrangements by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown. On-line condolences may be sent to www.daniels-hutchison.com.
