Hazel G. Moffett

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Chester River Manor in Chestertown. Mrs. Moffett was born on October 1, 1912, in Chestertown, Md. She was the daughter of the late William Edward and Olive Bowers Greenwood. Mrs. Moffett was a 1930 graduate of Chestertown High School. In 1934, she married the late Walter Franklin Moffett in 2006. They spent the majority of their 71 years of marriage on their farm in Pomona. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was an active member of the choir, Altar Guild, and Women of St. Paul's. When not working on the farm or singing, she was an avid duckpin bowler and enjoyed playing cards and spending time on the water with friends and family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Violet Leiby in 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Pope and her husband Curtis of Chestertown; two grandchildren, Constance Rosa and her husband Matthew of Hong Kong and Heidi Barry and her husband Ryan of Chantilly, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Rosa, Aubrey Rosa, and Liam Barry. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestertown, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish 7579 Sandy Bottom Road, Chestertown, MD 21620.
