Harold Amos Duckery

MILLINGTON, Md. - Harold Amos "Sonny" Duckery departed Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury, Md.
Mr. Duckery was born Jan. 24, 1953 in Easton, Md. the son of the late Amos Ashley and Mary Johnson. Sonny was a 1971 graduate of Aberdeen Senior High School, Aberdeen, Md. He was employed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds as the Dining Hall Supervisor. In 1973 he moved to the Los Angeles, Calif. until 1998; returning home to Millington. In 2010 he moved to Salisbury, Md. and resided at the Deer's Head Medical Center. Sonny was very active in Graves Chapel U.A.M.E. Church where he served as an Usher and helped coordinate numerous activities at the church. He was a very talented Playwright and Performer and loved to Dance, Travel, and spend time with his Godchildren, Aireona and Dezmeir.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl Johnson and Thomas Duckery; stepfather, Charles Duckery Sr.; his beloved grandparents, John and Lillian Johnson and John and Mae Flethcher Ashley; two very precious aunts', Lucinda (Lucy) Martin and Vivian (Aunt Vivian) Garnett.
He is survived by one sister, Helena C. Duckery of Aberdeen, Md.; three brothers, Louis "Joe" Duckery (Nina), Glen Burnie, Md., Howard Wayne Duckery (Anna) of Havre De Grace, Md., Charles Duckery Jr. of Woodbridge, Va.; Godchildren, Aireona and Dezmeir; four aunts, Virginia Duckery, Chesterville, Md., Faye Ashley Kennedy and Anna "Gert" Ashley Pondtown, Md. and Marian Kennedy, Sudlersville, Md.; two uncles, Henry "Sonny" Ashley (Darlene), Bear, and Nelson Garnett, Pondtown, Md.; two special cousins, Vera Dozier, Pondtown, Md. and Shirley Duckery, Worton, Md.; special niece, Chaelina Duckery-Ball (Greg) of Havre De Grace, Md.; special great nephews, Christopher John Wayne and Cameron Michael Ball of Havre De Grace, Md.; and a host of other cousins, friends and caregivers at Deer's Head Hospital Center, his home away from home for the past seven years.
A visitation will be held Monday, Dec 18, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St. Millington, Md. and Tuesday, Dec 19, 2017 at Graves Chapel U.A.M.E. Church from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services will begin at 12 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Chesterville Cemetery in Millington, Md. Repass immediately following at Graves Chapel U.A.M.E. Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Graves Chapel U.A.M.E. Church.
