Hannah Elizabeth Murphy

Murphy, 92 DENTON, Md. - Hannah Elizabeth Murphy, 92, died April 2, 2012, at the Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was born on March 27, 1920, to the late Edgar Thomas Faulkner and Ella Mae Starkey. She was a graduate of Centreville High School, married 17 years to George Murphy before his passing in 1968 and with her companion William Hobbs since 1972 until he passed in 2001. Mrs. Murphy was a seamstress who worked 35 years with Rob Roy, a member of the Choptank River Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary and held numerous offices. She belonged to the Queenstown Methodist Church and the R.V.F.D. Auxiliary for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her daughter, Patsy Faulkner; four brothers, Franklin Faulkner, Lee Faulkner, Christopher Faulkner, Milton Faulkner; and three sisters, Lola Harrison, Marie Mckibber and Blanche Nash. She is survived by her son, John Murphy and wife Christine of Harrington; two grandchildren, Barbara Reed and husband Tony of Chestertown, David Murphy and wife Sarah of Chestertown; three great- grandchildren, Trent, Tanner and David Carter. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 11 a.m., at the Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro, Md. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 909 Progress Circle, Ste. 400, Salisbury, MD 21804. Condolences to the family may be made at www.fleegleandhelfenbein.com.
