H. Marie Alexander, 85

SANDTOWN - H. Marie Alexander, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009. She was 85. She was born in Bridgetown, Md., the daughter of the late Earl Samuel and Mildred Baynard Harrington. After high school, she worked at DuPont in Seaford before becoming a dedicated farmer. After retiring from farming, she worked for several years at the Kent County Department of Elections. Marie loved to play cards with friends, play solitaire on the computer, do crossword puzzles, crochet and go camping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Harrington; two brothers, Francis and Charles Harrington; a son, Charles I. Alexander; and a daughter, Janice Alexander. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Irvan F. Alexander; sister, Pauline Smith; four children, Edwin Alexander and his wife Brenda; Edward Alexander and Susan, William F. Alexander and his wife Maria, and Charles F. Alexander; six grandchildren, Rodney Alexander and his wife Alicia, Jeff Alexander and his wife Bonnie, William C. Alexander, Kim Gaines and her husband John, Crystal Kohout and her husband Chris, and Stacey Bandish and her husband Jason; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier. Rev. Milton Kemp will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, Sandtown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edgehill Community Church of God, 702 Maple Parkway, Dover, DE 19901; or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
