Gwendolyn Porter-Adams, 48

DOVER - Ms. Gwendolyn Porter-Adams, of Dover slept peacefully into eternity on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in Milford Hospice Center. She was 48. Gwen had fought a valiant battle with breast cancer, and she never gave up. We knew her tenacity was a gift from God when throughout her ordeal she never gave up and continued to encourage all of us to believe that she would be all right. She was a person of creativity and could take something seemingly insignificant and make it into something extraordinary. We are certain that by now she and her grandfather, to whom she lovingly referred as "Bert" are reunited and he is barking orders at her and she is obliging. Gwen's kind spirit and angelic presence will be sadly missed by her sons, Kevin Brooks II and William Anderson; grandson, Dazhmier Brooks; mother, Ruth Hardnett-Bundick; grandmothers, Della Releford-Dockery and Olivia Porter; uncles, Nolan Hardnett Jr. (Rosa), Louis Dockery (Frances), and Bobby Dockery (Kathy); and aunts, Deborah Betts-Lindsey, Georgia Walton, Bennie Jean Chambers, Rita Wells, and Joyce Johnson. Services will be noon Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Route 8 and Victory Chapel Rd., Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Whatcoat Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, 165 Commerce Way, Suite 2, Dover, DE 19904. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
