Gretha F. 'Susie' Custer, 88 DOVER - Gretha F. "Susie" Custer, of Dover, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, in Pinnacle Health Care, Smyrna. She was 88. Mrs. Custer was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Federalsburg, Md., to the late Walter M. Fountain and Emma Cohee Fountain. She retired in 1986 after 16 years as a Deputy Clerk for Magistrate Court 7. Mrs. Custer volunteered for Neighbor to Neighbor, Kent General Hospital, and Friends of Dover Library. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Henry F. Custer in 1989; brothers, Lester F., Carl F., and Walter F. Jr.; and sisters, Thelma Fountain (died at age 6), Grace Evans, Ruth Turner, Agnes Morgan, Clementine Smith, Naomi Jones, and Mary Keller. She is survived by her son, Michael B. Custer of Dover; her sister, Madeline F. Fiore of Denton, Md.; and two grandchildren, Michael Henry Custer, and Coty Joseph Custer. Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Saturday April 24, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
