Gregory J. Oxley, 60
DOVER - Gregory J. Oxley, of Dover, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, in Kent General Hospital. He was 60. Mr. Oxley was born Oct. 11, 1948, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Cline Oxley and Frances Anna Gormley. Following his Mother's untimely death shortly after Mr. Oxley's birth, his father remarried the late Hazel Quillen Oxley who reared Greg as her own. He received both his Masters and Undergraduate Business degrees from Marshall University. Mr. Oxley worked at several newspapers as manager, General Manager and eventually as publisher. He changed his career path when he and his wife bought Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in six locations around Central and Southern Delaware. Mr. Oxley enjoyed classic cars and was a civil war and history buff. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Sue Irons in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Kay Moss Blackmon Oxley of Dover; his son, Patrick Cole Oxley of Old Fort, N.C.; four daughters, Angela Summerfield-Gillenwater and her husband Brian of Columbus, Ohio, Laura Manning Oxley of Chicago, Ill., Christa Blackmon of Arlington, Va., Lisa Hastings and her husband Christian of Little Rock, Ark.; his brother, Joe Oxley of Huntington, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Richard Irons of Juno Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Morgan Briana Stephens, Matthew Samuel Gillenwater, Alexis Katelyn Shuster and Skylar Clarice Hastings. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Civil War Preservation Trust 1331 H St. NW Suite 1001, Washington, DC 20005. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 535 Norway Ave., Huntington, WV 25705. The viewing will be held on Friday at the Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, 328 Sixth St., Huntington, WV 25701. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening.
