DOVER - Gregory I. Tkacz passed away Tuesday, Apr. 18, 2017, after a courageous battle with multiple health issues.
Greg was born on Mar. 15, 1951 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Anna Schroeder and Gregory Tkacz.
Greg lived in New York until moving to Kennett Square, Pa. with his family in 1988, where he bought a grocery store, Food Giant, in Oreland, Pa. He later worked as the Senior Operations Manager, at Ascendia, a mailing and eCommerce business, and eventually moved to Smyrna, and then Dover, to be closer to his family. Greg is also survived by his sisters, Karin Tkacz, Irene Dowd, Debra Mastriano, and Diane Tkacz, all of New York, his former wife Grace Vinci, of Kennett Square, Pa., and his grandchildren, Sarah Stewart, Allison Stewart, Kennedy Aires, and Cecilia Aires. Greg was an active member of his community, and enjoyed his many friends.Greg's grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he enjoyed nothing else more than seeing them laugh and play, around him. After he lost the ability to walk, he loved taking them on rides in his scooter, around downtown Dover, and always had candy and treats for them, in his apartment.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, at 12 p.m., on Monday, Apr. 24, 2017.
