ELLENDALE - Gregg Lamont Smith Jr., of Ellendale, was rescued from the cares of this world, on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Milford Memorial Bayhealth Hospital. He was 11. Born on Sept. 9, 1999, he was the son of Gregg L. Smith Sr. and Tameka L. Smith. Gregg was an exceptional student at Lulu M. Ross Elementary School, where he enjoyed reading even in his spare time. Gregg was a unique and loving child who loved music and would even write songs. He had a phenomenal memory and was remembered at Calvary Weslyan Church, Harrington, as the go to person for remembered scriptures. While at home, he would spend countless hours watching Animal Planet but his greatest joy was spending time with family in particularly his cousins. Those left to cherish beautiful memories are his parents, Gregg Sr. and Tameka; two brothers, Jarrell Smith and Jordan Smith; one sister, Dariyon Smith; maternal grandparents, Sandra White and Wayne White and James Cooper; paternal grandmother, Delores Fort; aunts and uncles, Tawanda Weatherspoon, Denise and Jermaine Hinton, Lakisha Snead, Shakira Cooper, Carla and Spiva Haynes, Gina Bennett and Ronald and Kesinee White; a special cousin, Tyronda Bennett; as well as a host of other cousins, relatives and friends. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 28, at the Philadelphia Pentecostal Holiness Church, Ellendale, where a viewing will be two hours earlier. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, Ellendale. Arrangements by McPherson Funeral Home, Milford.
