The artificial intelligence parade is on a roll! My question is, do they have any clue as to what they suggest is coming?
When computers first made their debut in the public school domain, many school districts jumped on board, some without proper instruction for those in charge of the “labs” that they set up in their schools. Others had labs without any training for what was then new technology! Those labs, especially on the elementary school level, were often staffed with “aides,” some of whom only knew how to turn the computers on and off! Likewise, teachers who were open to this new technology took computers as a useful teaching tool, while teachers who were not so inclined avoided this new technology at all costs.
Specific to AI, note the following: I recently read a review by a scientist doing a little experiment. He asked the same questions to an AI format four different times throughout the length of the experiment. In each case, they gave different answers to his “same” question. Hmm, a glitch in the system? There will be many more. Count on it!
New technology can be a tremendous advantage to the population in general. An electronic device like AI has incredible potential to make the world a better place for humankind. I suggest only that we, as a society, proceed with caution before buying the store!
For what it’s worth!
