Grace Clayton Matthews

Matthews, 95 DOVER - Grace Clayton Matthews, 95, of Dover, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Capital Nursing Center, Dover. She was born on May 17, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Louis and Almira Frink Clayton. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Dover, and The Auxiliary Gideon's International. She was a Gray Lady Vol. at Air Force base hospitals wherever her husband was stationed. She was a Girl Scott Leader. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent at several churches. She worked at Boulevard Electric and was a supporter at the DAFB Air Museum. She did Missionary Aviation Fellowship support. She and her husband worked together at Peninsula Realty in Dover. She frequently participated in letters to the editor, Sound Off and Speak Your Peace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Durward L. Matthews. She is survived by daughter, Almira Jones of Camano Island, Wash. Remembrance Services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Gideon's International Central Delaware Camp, P.O. Box 622, Dover, DE 19903.
