DOVER - Gloria "Gogi" Garbarino, 64, of Dover, died August 17, 2010, surrounded by her family and friends at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Born in Byrndale, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Deno and Clara Reed Chiappelli. Gloria had worked as an X-Ray Technician at Kent General Hospital for over 33 years until illness forced her retirement. She had been a long time member of Holy Cross Church in Dover and was one who was committed to the friends that she made throughout her life. She had been a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her insisting that you ate something while visiting her home. Gloria truly maintained an Open House for those she knew and loved. In her quieter moments she was often found watching a baseball game or cheering on her beloved Washington Redskins. Gardening was a delight for her and she was especially fond of dancing. Gloria was simply one of those unique people who really made a difference. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Garbarino, who died in 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Hazzard and her spouse, Joel of Smyrna; her son, Anthony D. Garbarino of Dover; adopted son, Chatchai De Leon of Dover; one sister, Elaine Jambro and her spouse Donald of Atlanta, Ga.; and one brother, Gerald "Bumba" Chiappelli and spouse Shawn of Shippensburg, Pa. Friends may call Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso 1175 S. State St. Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 9 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church S. State St. Dover. Burial will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. Family suggests donations in her memory to the Delaware Hospice 911 S. DuPont Hwy. Dover, DE 19901. Condolences and guestbook signings may be made via www.ambruso.com.
