Glen Raymond Hanks

DOVER - Glen Raymond Hanks, of Dover, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at the Delaware Veterans Home, Milford. He was 87. Mr. Hanks was born April 13, 1924, in Prague, Okla., to the late Archie and Sylvia Hanks. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Air Force retiring after 22 years in 1964. After his military career he worked for sixteen years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed all sports, his golden retrievers, and great home cooked meals prepared by his loving wife. Mr. Hanks is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Hanks of Dover; daughter, Angie Emerson and her husband Jerry of Dover; son, Bill Ayers and his wife Sherrie of Magnolia; brother, Norman Hanks; sister, Edna Hanks of Shawnee, Okla.; and several wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be private. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
