Gladys Mae Jefferson Bowden, 83 MILFORD -- Gladys Mae Jefferson Bowden, age 83, of Milford, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Genesis Healthcare, Milford. Born in Concord, daughter of the late Helen O'Day and Edgar J. Jefferson, she was a homemaker. Gladys was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Gerald B. Bowden Greenwood and Terry B. Bowden Milford; a daughter, Nancy M. Betts Milford; a brother, James E. Jefferson of Milford; sisters, Grace Hastings of Seaford, Louise King of Lewes and Jenny Lee Mauler of Clayton; other siblings; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Burton Bowden, in 1990. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
Gladys Shockley Evans, 68
SELBYVILLE - Gladys Shockley Evans, passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, in her home after a long illness. She was 68. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Evans; four children and their spouses, Roy and Barbara Evans, Randall Evans, Teresa Cropper, and Tammy and George Mitchell. Gladys is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael Evans, Matthew Evans, Jennifer Evans, Cherise Cropper, Danielle Adams, Randi Evans, Cassandra Evans and Brandon Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Robert Lathbury; and a sister, Doris Donovan. Service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Gladys' name, to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Frankford.
