Gilbert Wendell Hall MAGNOLIA - Gilbert Wendell Hall, 83, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in the Milford Hospice Center, Milford. He was the son of the late Wendell H. and Birdella Hall. Mr. Hall served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He also served in the Naval Reserves for 20 years. Mr. Hall worked as a truck driver for over 25 years, and drove for many outfits over the years, including A.J. Williams, and Mississippi Freight. He retired in 1989, after driving for Tri Gas & Oil. In his spare time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading the newspaper. His family was everything to him, and he enjoyed having his family around him. He was a people person, and he enjoyed visiting friends and having family and friends visit him. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Hall was a member of the American Legion Post CKRT#7 of Harrington, Fleet Reserves, AARP, and the Harrington Senior Center. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna May, and a son, Lester Emory. He is survived by his sons, Dale Hall and girlfriend Shelly Stanley of Felton, Michael Emory and girlfriend Gloria Mansfield of Felton; daughters and sons in law, Ginny and Rick Beard of Quilcene, Washington, Becky and Tony Kenton of Laurel; sister in laws, Emily Ann Havelow, Bobbie Ann Silva, Susan Russell and her husband Ronny; 34 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post #7, 17448 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE. 19952, or to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.
