Shane, Jr. BRIDGEVILLE - Gilbert "Buddy" Shane, Jr. was born into this world on Memorial Day, May 30, 1941 and re-born January, 1966, being immersed for the remission of his sins to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. He was added to the church of Christ/Christian Church at that time and faithfully partook of the "Lord's Supper" (Acts 20:7) each Lord's day since. He was a millwright by trade, retiring from his last job at Kraft-General Foods. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and was always willing and ready to lend an extra helping hand to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his first family, Gaile and son Hayes Shane; his brother, Marvin Shane; his father and mother, Gilbert, Sr. and Margaret Shane. He survived by his wife of 44 years, Agnes (Russell) Shane; one daughter, Arlene (Shane) Rust and husband Chris; two granddaughters, Ashley Custis and husband Chris, and Courtney Joseph and husband Brian; two great grandchildren, Summer and Brayden Joseph. Also surviving are his sisters, Mary Jane Hastings, Beverly Sirman and husband Walt, and Frances Murphy; plus his wife's siblings and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. A memorial celebration will be held at the Christian Church of Seaford (across from the Harley Davidson Shop) 22581 Sussex Hwy. with a viewing on Friday July 11, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2013, where friends may call one hour earlier. Interment will be at Old Paths Church of Christ, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Del-Mar-VA Family Camp, Laurel, DE, C/O Dee Bennett, 116 Woodland Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970 Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
