Gilbert G. Gunckel

Gilbert G. Gunckel, 75

HOUSTON - Gilbert G. Gunckel of Houston died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at his home. He was 75.

Mr. Gunckel was born July 1, 1932, in Gary, Ind., son of the late James "Ralph" and Florence (Brooks) Gunckel.

He was a self-employed carpenter for 40 years, retiring in 2003.

Mr. Gunckel enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing horseshoes. He loved a good game of pool and was a member of the Bush League.

He was a life member of the Blue Hen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6483, Milford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Gunckel, in 2006.

He is survived by a son, Dean Gunckel of Indiana; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Michael Carlisle of Milford; a stepson, Gary Blessing and his wife Christina of Milford; a brother, Marlin Gunckel of Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Ty Carlisle, Hope Blessing and Dylan Blessing.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 N.W. Salevan Place.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 N.W. Salevan Place, Milford, DE 19963.

Arrangements handled by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
