DOVER - Gertrude (Ruehl) Burgess passed away peacefully in her home, Monday, January 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Gertrude was born June 20, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to the late, Charles and Charlotte (Meyer) Ruehl. She was employed for many years at Kraft Foods. In her free time, she enjoyed watching Me T.V., with her occasional glass of wine, and going to the casino.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold J. Burgess; her sister, Louise Darling; her aunt, Elizabeth Schorski; an uncle, Otto Meyer; and a cousin, Bea Knutikowski.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Raye Ann Peters, of Dover; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Tony Mozick, Jr., and Violet Peters; five great-great-grandchildren, Robert, Zoey, Jerry, Kaliey, and Jaylynn; her nephew, James Darling, of Camden; and a cousin, Flossie Erickson, of Idaho.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; where family and friends may view one hour before. Adhering to the current Covid-19 restrictions of mask wearing, social distancing, and 50 people maximum at a time. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
