Gertrude B. 'Mom Gertie' Cannon, 84

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Gertrude B. "Mom Gertie" Cannon, of Chestertown, died on Aug. 19, 2009, in Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilamarnock, Va. She was 84. Mrs. Cannon is survived by a son, Charles Passwaters of South Carolina; two daughters: Edith Smith of Ingleside, and Shirley Bussells of Weems, Va.; a brother, Harry Goodyear; along with seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Betty Hollett; nephew, Romie Joiner; and great-niece, Robin. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 25, between 6 and 8 p.m. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery.
