Gerasimos D. Moutzalias, 93

OCEAN VIEW - Gerasimos D. Moutzalias, also known as "Jerry" and "Papou," of Ocean View, formerly of Silver Spring, Md., passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was 93.

Mr. Moutzalias was born in Kalamos, Greece, on March 15, 1915, son of the late Demetruis and Anna (Vlasopoulos) Moutzalias.

He was a retired restaurant operator.

He was a longtime member of the parish council at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City, Md.

Gerasimos was family oriented and loved being around his friends and family. He also enjoyed cooking and fishing.

Mr. Moutzalias is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Moutzalias; a son, James Moutzalias and his wife Lynn Patterson; a daughter, Anna Meiklejohn and her husband Gary; six grandchildren, Marianne Moutzalias, Michael Moutzalias and his wife Jen, Christina Meiklejohn, James Meiklejohn, Jonathan Meiklejohn and his wife Shelby and Jerry Meiklejohn; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Miller, Van Meiklejohn and Demetreus Moutzalias; three brothers, Gregory Mountzalia and wife Afendra, George Moutzalias and wife Hannah and Socretes Moutzalias and wife Alexandria; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday at St. George Orthodox Church, Ocean City. Friends and family may call on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Gerasimos' name to St. George Orthodox Church, 8805 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD 21842.
