DOVER - Geraldine Adkins Skeans went home to her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2015. She was born on January 14th, 1922 in Mingo County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Emma Adkins. Geraldine was a retired restaurant owner of the Wayne Restaurant which she owned and operated for 55 years. People would come for miles and miles to experience one of her home cooked southern style meals, where portions were large and the company great. She was also a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church and of the choir. She loved the choir and was always proud of the beautiful cantata's they performed. She also performed in the Wayne Minstrels. She just loved to sing and share her passion and soprano voice with others. Geraldine was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Wayne Women's Club and a member of the Eastern Star. She loved her grandchildren and especially her two great grandchildren. She called them "her boys". Her generosity and outreach to others was something many admired. She was always there when someone needed anything from clothes to even household items and was especially known for gifting her home baked cakes, pies, and many other special recipes. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law. Danny J and Ann Skeans and James W. (Jim Bill) and Pat Skeans all of Dover; three grandchildren, John and wife Bobbie Skeans, Dr. Jennifer K. and husband Jamie P. Yoder, Christopher and wife Catherine Skeans, two great-grandsons, Brandon Thomas and Colin James Yoder. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Myrtle Beasley and Mae Short and her two brothers, Junior and Earl Adkins. The funeral will be held in Wayne, West Virginia at the Morris Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 26th, 2015. Family and friends may call at 11:00am. Service immediately following at noon. She will be buried at Woodmere Memorial Park beside her husband of 56 years, Otis W. Skeans. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Wayne United Methodist Church, 615 Cleveland St. Wayne, W. Va. 25570 In Memory of Geraldine A. Skeans.
