GREENWOOD - Gerald W. Jones, of Greenwood, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at his home. He was 62. Born Jan. 27, 1948, in Milford to the late William E. Jones Sr. and Pauline C. Jones of Greenwood. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Coast Guard on the USCG Cutter Chase. Gerald had been a truck driver for Preston Trucking and Mark IV. He served his community with the Greenwood VFC for 44 years and was a lifetime member. Besides his mother he is survived by a brother, William E. Jones Jr. and his wife Marlene of Dover; two sisters, Dolores J. Slatcher and husband William of Seaford, and Durene "Dee" Jones of Greenwood; three nephews, Nathan S. Jones, Dustin S. Jones, and Kasey R. Jones; three nieces, Stefanie M. Jones, Jan M. Slatcher, Megan D. Jones; an uncle; and numerous aunts and cousins. Viewing will was held on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fleischauer Funeral Home. Funeral service with Fireman Honors was held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Fleischauer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary or the Greenwood VFC, POB 1, Greenwood, DE 19950.
