Dover - Gerald H. Betterly passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at Envoy of Denton, in Denton, Md. He was born in Cohoctah, Mich.; son of the late William and Emerald Marshall. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Boeing as an assembler for 28 years and also as a janitor. He was a very handy man and mechanically inclined. He attended Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Alice Beatrice "Bea" (Clark) Betterly; four children: Mark Betterly, Ruth Jeffries Jones, Timothy Betterly, Darlene Demetrion; four granddaughters; two grandsons; one great granddaughter; two great grandsons; three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, Del. 19947, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for a viewing. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware. Arrangements handled by Berry Short Funeral Home, Felton, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Crossroad Community Church at the address above or American Parkinson Disease Association, J. Louis Blumberg Chapter, 332 Gerard Avenue, Elkins Park, PA 19027.
