George Wesley Pennell Jr., 71
WORTON, Md. - George Wesley Pennell Jr., of Worton, Md., died at his home on Friday, May 2, 2008. He was 71.
Born in New Castle, Del., Mr. Pennell was the son of the late George W. and Anna (Peters) Pennell.
Mr. Pennell was a collection officer for the Peoples Bank of Kent County Maryland, Chestertown, retiring in 2000.
In the early 60s, Mr. Pennell was a pressman for Baltimore Business Forms in Chestertown. He also worked as the circulation manager of the Baltimore News American Paper from 1967-1986.
Mr. Pennell owned and operated C-Town Laundromat since 1981.
He enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the athletic department of Washington College.
Mr. Pennell loved his pets, coffee time with his group of buddies to solve the problems of the world, relaxing with family and friends and, most importantly, sharing in all the growing-up experiences of his granddaughters.
Mr. Pennell was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances C. Pennell; two daughters, Anna Ruth Tubman of Chestertown and Nony Howell of Worton; a granddaughter, Rachel Crampsey and her husband Kevin of New York City; a granddaughter, Sam Howell of Worton; a sister, Helen Kennard of Worton; a brother, Samuel Pennell of New Castle; and a dear friend, Betsy Kain of Harrisonburg, Va.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
