GREENWOOD - George Washington Norman Adams passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was born George Washington Norman Adams on Feb. 22, 1932 in Bacon Switch, to George Roland Adams and Ernie Slacum. He graduated in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Kalinevitch, on Oct., 14, 1950. They had six children; Lee, Jackie, Nick, Steve, Barbara and Shirley. George retired from his job as an electrical supervisor at DuPonts in Seaford where he had worked for 35 years. He enjoyed traveling. He enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas to visit his daughter Jackie and his trip to Hawaii. He enjoyed taking drives in the fall to watch to leaves turn or going the Chincoteague to get fresh oysters. He especially liked family dinners where he would be surrounded by his family and his grandchildren. George is survived by his wife Gladys; seven of his children; Lee, Jackie and her husband Dan, Nick and his wife Debi, Steve and Barbara, and 10 grandchildren; Crystal and Keith Brock, Stephani and Chris Adams, Derek Adams, Steven Lee Adams, Carrie Adams, Mike D'Armi, Juli Shapiro and Lisa Shapiro; and six great-grandchildren; Tyler Evans, Libby Adams, Peyton Adams, Brady Adams, James Adams and Dylan Brock. He was preceeded in death by his daughter, Shirley Adams. A viewing will be held Friday evening, April 8, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fleischauer Funeral Home in Greenwood, and funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Fleischauer's with internment at St. Johnstown Cemetery.
