MIDDLETOWN - George W. Pierce, 85, Lt. Col. USAF Ret., of Middletown, passed in Iowa on July 22, 2011. He is survived by two daughters, Judith Pierce of Chestertown, Md., and Alice Moore of Galena, Md.; a son, George E. Pierce of Middletown; three sisters, Leola Leffler, Mertle Street and Dora Bell; two brothers, Steiner and James Pierce; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. A celebration of George's life will be 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 19, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may visit with his family from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment with full Air Force honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In honor of George's love and passion for flying, his family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Massey Air Museum Inc., 33541 Maryland Line Road, Massey MD 21650. www.daniels-hutchison.com 302-378-3410
