MILFORD - George Roland Dawson, of Milford died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 at his home. He was 71, being born on Dec. 8, 1942 in Dover the son of the late John A. and Rena Wample Dawson. George retired from David A Bramble Construction of Chestertown, Md., where he was a heavy equipment operator. He served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer from 1967 to 1969, with a year tour in the Viet Nam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents ,he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon Dawson of Milford; two daughters, Shannon Dixon of Milford and Stephanie Trimmer and husband Troy of Milton, three grandchildren, Danielle Dixon, Taylor Trimmer and Jaycob Trimmer; two sisters, Louise Hickman and Josephine Jefferson; one brother, Howard Dawson and many other family and friends. He is also survived by three granddogs Nala, Kansas, Maxx. Calling hours will be Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St., Greenwood, DE 19950. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
