DOVER - George J. Poley, age 79, of Dover, died March 25, 2011, at his residence. He was born April 8, 1931, in Camden, N.J., and was the son of the late John and Ruth (Eickhoff) Poley. He was a veteran of the Korean War and had served in the US Air Force from Feb. 1951 until Feb. of 1955. He later worked as an Insurance Auditor in Delaware for over 20 years and was a member of the Walter L. Fox Post of The American Legion. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles. George was a dedicated husband who treasured the time spent with his wife Mary Lou and had thoroughly enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He was a real friend to his friends and will be remembered as a truly "Good Guy." George will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. George is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Poley of Dover; his son, Michael Poley of Philadelphia; one daughter, Katherine McCrane of Philadelphia; and his brother, Jack Poley of Mt. Laurel, N.J. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Memorial will be held at the convenience of the family.
