George E. Stevenson, 90
HOUSTON - George E. Stevenson, of Houston, was born in Cambridge, Md. He departed this life on June 17, 2008, at Milford Genesis Center after a long illness. He was 90.
Born on Sept. 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Melinda and Clarence Dixon, and his late biological father, George Lewis Stevenson.
He received his education in Delaware.
He was employed by Conrail for several years, and then had different odd jobs.
He leaves to mourn him his estranged wife, Anna Dixon Stevenson of Philadelphia; six daughters, Yvonne Dudley of Viola, Irene Stevenson and Shirley Stevenson, both of New Castle, Darlene Griffin of Dover, Floreda Smith of Smyrna and Emilie B. Smith-Miller of Houston; three sons, Wilbur Stevenson of Star Hill, Michael Smith of Harrington and Tony Smith of New Jersey. He also leaves two sisters, Helen Harper and Roseanna Pinder of Houston; and two brothers, Harvey Dixon of Houston and Martin Dixon of Hebron, Md.; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.
Funeral services will be at noon Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Milford Community Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
