George Davis, 100 MILFORD - George Davis, of Milford, died Aug. 28, 2009, in Georgetown. He was 100. Mr. Davis was born in Milford on June 7, 1909, to the late Roland and Mabel Bennett Davis. He took over the family farm and worked until his retirement in 1959. He lived his whole life in Milford and was an avid Phillies fan. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. Davis in 2000. He is survived by a daughter, Janet Beach of Milford; two brothers, Russell Davis and Gordon Davis, both of Milford; two sisters, Louise Webb of Greenwood, and Marion Van Vorst of Milford. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Mike Rivera, Remona Hyszczak, and Eric Beach; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Alexandra, Elise, and Egon; and a great-great-granddaughter, Avery. A viewing and visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Graveside services and interment followed in the Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Instead of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels, 100 W. Tenth St. Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19801.
