George David Melvin Jr.

SEDALIA, Mo. - George David Melvin Jr., 55, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his home. He was born on Jan. 30, 1955, at Fort Delbar, Va., a son of George and Eloise Melvin, Sr., and Betty Sheppard. On Feb. 28, 1987, in Malta Bend, Mo., he was united in marriage to Verna Johnson, who lives in Carrollton, Mo. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at B & P Excavating. He loved to build guitars with his son and would have given the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He is survived by his father, George David Melvin, Sr. of Camden-Wyoming, Del.; his mother, Betty Sheppard of Florida; one daughter, Ashley Melvin of Sedalia; two sons, Benny Melvin and his wife Karen of Delaware, and Aron Melvin and his wife Tesha of Carrollton; one brother, Eddie Melvin of Delaware; two grandchildren, Lily and Jena Melvin. A memorial service and visitation was held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov, 4, 2010, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
