George Allen 'Smitty' Smith, 82 LINCOLN - George Allen "Smitty" Smith, age 82, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, after a lengthy illness. George was born in Kansas, Aug. 16, 1927, to the late Lorraine Frances Hallbrook and George A. Smith Sr. George proudly served in the U.S. Army and Air Force as an electrician and retired in 1990 after 12 years of service with General Motors in Newark. George was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, PM Rising Sun Lodge #4, and G. Oscar Carrington Consistory #93. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margaret E. Carroll Smith; and goddaughter, Sabrina Carroll of Chester, Pa. Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at Wesley UM Church, Slaughter Neck Road, Lincoln. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. and Saturday morning two hours before the service. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Services.
