FELTON - Genevieve Melvina Good passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, she was 95 years old. Genevieve was born on May 31, 1916 in Montebello, Calif., the only daughter of Jesse Eugene and Jessie Hobart Emerson. As a young child she moved with her family to Oregon. When she was thirteen, her father loaded his four children, her mother, and their worldly goods into a canvas-covered 1929 Chevrolet truck and drove across country to American Corners, Md. where he bought a farm. Genevieve graduated from Denton High School, Denton, Md. She married Horace L. Good shortly after her graduation. The Goods tilled three farms before moving away from agriculture to a home Horace built near Canterbury. Here Horace expanded his carpenter career and Genevieve became a seamstress. She loved large flower gardens and enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Horace L. Good; a son, Richard Good; and brothers, James David Emerson and Robert Hobart Emerson. She is survived by a brother, Gilbert Emerson; daughter and son in law, Evelyn and Gordon Pearson; son, Stanley Good, grandchildren and spouses, Amy and Tim Plump, David and Michelle Pearson, Linda Dawn and Tim Hammond; Wayne (Good) and Paula Gillis will also miss her being in their lives, as will her ten great grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton.
