G. Russell Eaton Sr., 83

RIDGELY, Md. - G. Russell Eaton Sr. of Ridgely, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 83. Born in Queen Anne, Mr. Eaton was the son of the late Harry Eaton and Anna Augusta Pinder Eaton. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In a special ceremony for World War II veterans in May of 2007, he was awarded his high school diploma from Caroline County. He was self-employed as an exterminator for Eaton's Pest Control since 1977, retiring in 2008. Mr. Eaton was a member of the Hillsboro-Queen Anne United Methodist Church and was a Charter Member and Life Member of the Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a member of Caroline American Legion Post 29. He is survived by his beloved companion of twenty-five years, Betty J. Short Eaton of Ridgely; one son, G. Russell "Rusty" Eaton Jr. of Denton; two daughters, Wendy E. Moore and her husband Wayne of Denton and Becky Jones and her husband Wayne of Cordova; one brother, James Eaton of Ridgely; and three sisters, Velma Breeding of Bridgeville, Del., Florence Cronshaw of Denton, and Anna Mae Walls of Ridgely; two stepchildren, Johnny Cox and his wife Tina of Ridgely and Edna Barry and her husband Kevin of Tilghman; 12 grandchildren, Rusty Eaton III, Melanie McMahan, Brittany Moore, Mickee Roser, Carrie Middleton, Cortney Wisk, Jennifer and Meredith Cox, Scott, Robbie, B.J. Jones, and Stephen Foster; and 10 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Anna, Emma, Nathan, Josh, Julia, Brennan, Samantha, Colyer, and Hudson. He was predeceased by five brothers, Hopkins Eaton, Austin Eaton, Preston Eaton, Paul Eaton Sr., Palmer Eaton; and two sisters, Brenna Morris and Edna Palmatory. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Friday at the Hillsboro-Queen Anne United Methodist Church on Main St., in Hillsboro. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton, MD 21629. Instead of flowers, the family requests that friends send memorial donations to the Hillsboro-Queen Anne United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 267, Queen Anne, MD 21657.
