Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month. This year’s theme, “Champion Your Health,” highlights prevention, wellness and personal responsibility as cornerstones of healthy aging. It calls on individuals, families, caregivers and communities to take action — managing health, advocating for themselves and others, accessing preventive care and making informed decisions that support independence. Join us in elevating evidence-based approaches, everyday actions and community partnerships that help people lead healthier, more independent lives.
Please consider hosting a special Older Americans Month event. It’s a great way to celebrate, share resources and connect with community members. There are countless approaches to this kind of activity.
Please also stay connected with your neighbors and lend a hand. Know the signs to look for of someone struggling.
