GEORGETOWN - Freeman W. Hudson passed away Tues., Mar. 3, 2015 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial. Freeman was born in Georgetown, son of the late Harry H. and Ida (Donovan) Hudson. Freeman was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII, after his honorable discharge in 1946; he began his career in the electrical field and was a self-employed electrical contractor for many years. He later taught electrical trades for 18 years at Sussex Vo-Tech (now Sussex Tech) and retired in 1985 after 39 total years in the field. He was a beloved teacher and many of his students kept in contact with him years after their graduation. In his spare time, he enjoyed refinishing furniture, loved gardening, and was an avid UD Blue Hen football fan. He was a member of Wesley U.M. Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and gospel quartet. Freeman and his wife Martha had also been very active in the Georgetown Historical Society. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Martha (Torbert) Hudson; two sons, Greg Hudson, of Charlotte, N.C. and Kevin Hudson and his wife Sheila, of Spring House, Pa.; and one granddaughter, Sierra Hudson. A funeral service will be held Sat., Mar. 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
