SELBYVILLE — The Freeman Arts Pavilion’s latest program, the Spotlight Series, is designed to expand live year-round arts experiences and the nonprofit’s connection with the community.
It will showcase events that blend education and entertainment, featuring diverse, cultural and genre-spanning experiences in collaboration with regional artists and arts organizations.
The series — sponsored, in part, by the Carl M. Freeman Foundation — will take place at the foundation’s office building:
• Thursday — “The REAL Women, Veterans of Vietnam.” Journalist Nancy E. Lynch will share letters from Delaware women who served in Vietnam.
• April 4 — “The Art & Psychology of Magic.” Magician Ran’D Shine presents an exploration of cognitive tricks, paired with a magic performance.
• May 3 — Pop-Up Opera by OperaDelaware, including a preview of Derrick Wang’s “Fearless”

Old State House Concert Series sets final performance
DOVER — The Delaware Friends of Folk will present the final event in the 2024-25 Old State House concert series March 14, inside the Old State House on The Green.
The one-hour performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
The featured act will be Virginia native Skyler Cumbia of Wilmington. She is a singer-songwriter, music therapist and multiinstrumentalist who enjoys many genres of music. She will most often play folk and pop, with an occasional jazz standard.
This is the 11th season of the series, produced in cooperation with the Delaware Division of Historical & Cultural Affairs and the First State National Heritage Park. It is supported by a grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts.
Delaware Friends of Folk presents coffeehouse concert
DOVER — The Delaware Friends of Folk will stage its monthly coffeehouse concert at 7:30 p.m. March 15 at the Dover Art League.
Admission is $7 for members, $10 for nonmembers, half-price for teens and free for those 12 and under. Coffee, baked cookies and other snacks will be available. Seating may be limited.
The featured performer will be Philadelphia native Craig Bickhardt. Opening will be Rehoboth Beach resident Julie Derrick.
Friends of Folk events are supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
2025 Women’s+ FEST seeks sponsors
REHOBOTH BEACH — The Women’s+ FEST 2025 will be April 10-13, and the initiative is seeking sponsors.
Businesses and organizations can reach more than 4,000 attendees. Sponsors will be visible through print, digital marketing and signage before, during and after the event, taking place at a variety of venues in and around Rehoboth Beach.
With six sponsorship levels available, benefits also include event passes.
Fest proceeds benefit CAMP Rehoboth, an LGBTQ+ facility dedicated to creating an environment inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

‘Roots and Resilience’ planned in Rehoboth
REHOBOTH BEACH — CAMP Rehoboth will host “Roots and Resilience: Stories of Strength and Spirit,” a juried exhibit celebrating the heritage and creativity of communities of color, through March 28.
Coinciding with Black History and Women’s History months, “Roots and Resilience” includes the work of 15 artists in a variety of mediums.

Brian McKnight to perform at Bally’s Dover March 14
DOVER — R&B singer Brian McKnight will take the Rollins Center stage at Bally’s Dover on March 14 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $75-$100 at ballysdover.com.
The performer is known for playing nine instruments, including piano, guitar, bass, drums, trombone and trumpet. His body of work includes 19 albums and a catalog of hits, such as “Back at One,” “Anytime” and “Love of My Life.”
‘Divine Night in Delaware’ returns to Grand
WILMINGTON — OperaDelaware, the First State Ballet Theatre and The Grand Opera House will join the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Delaware to offer “A Divine Night in Delaware” on March 20 at the opera house.
The celebration honors the members of the Divine Nine, the founding sororities and fraternities established at historically Black colleges and universities.
There will be a cocktail hour with DJ entertainment, a red carpet and professional “pOPERAzzi” capturing the arrivals. Guests will be greeted by a complimentary glass of champagne, while VIP ticketholders and sponsors will have access to a lounge with free cocktails. The party will continue in the Sarah Bernhardt Salon, with Italian food and a cash bar.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the council, furthering its mission to promote unity and service.

Dweezil Zappa coming to The Grand
WILMINGTON — The Grand Opera House welcomes guitarist Dweezil Zappa at Copeland Hall on April 12, as part of his Rox(Postroph)y Tour, which celebrates two of his father Frank Zappa’s albums, “Roxy & Elsewhere” and “Apostrophe.”
Both albums are marking 50 years, and Dweezil has curated a concert highlighting fan-favorite tracks from each, replete with unique hybrid arrangements.

‘Menopause’ sequel coming to Wilmington
WILMINGTON — GFour Productions is bringing the national tour of “Menopause The Musical 2: Cruising Through ‘The Change’” to The Playhouse on May 1.

Ms. Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Her works have garnered two Grammy Awards and 10 JUNO Awards.

Boat Drinks Bacchanal to benefit Milton Theatre
DEWEY BEACH — The Delaware Seashore Parrot Head Club will hold its annual Boat Drinks Bacchanal from noon to 5 p.m. May 17 at northbeach.
Proceeds will benefit the Milton Theatre’s construction of an Education Wing.

Apprenticeship studies program open to students
MILTON — The Milton Theatre announces the launch of its Student Apprenticeship Studies program for students aspiring to pursue theater in higher education.
This initiative offers hands-on experience, mentorship and professional development through three components: Theatre for Young Audiences (June), Practicum Experience (July) and Mainstage Production (August).
The application process mirrors that of college admissions. Participants can apply for the entire program or individual components.
