DOVER - Frederick C. Kope, formerly of Harrisburg, Pa., passed away, Thursday, Mar. 16, 2017, at Pinnacle Nursing Home, Smyrna.
Mr. Kope was born Mar. 26, 1932, in Harrisburg, Pa., to the late Adam F. Kope and Dorothy Fetro Kope.
He served in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. After his military career, he worked as a manager at a grocery store, worked in real estate as an agent and maintenance manager, a mail room manager for a Pennsylvania school district, and ended his work career as a secure delivery service courier in 2010. He occasionally attended Calvary Church in Dover, was proud of his service as a Past Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Carlisle Aerie & Auxiliary #1299. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Businessmen's Club, Carlisle American Legion (lifetime member) and was a dedicated supporter of Easter Seals and Special Olympics. Mr. Kope was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife, DeEtte Kope (Dover); seven children, David Trogdon (stepson) and wife, Joanne, DeEtte Philips (Macon, Ga.), Dorothy Kope-Callan and husband, Mark (Dover), Fred P. Kope and wife, Jill, (Three Springs, Pa.), Paul Kope and wife, Janet (Camden), Robert Kope (Macon, Ga.), and Cassie Kope (Mt. Holly Springs, Pa.). Fred and DeEtte have 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 18, 2017, at Calvary Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Friends may call one hour prior.
