
FREDERICA – Franklin Delano Spence passed away on Sunday, Jun. 11, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford after a brief illness.
He was born on Jul. 6, 1937, in West Virginia. Upon graduation Frank went on to serve his country for eight years in the U.S. Air Force, which led him to Delaware. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force he worked in various areas of work including heating and air conditioning, which led him to a job in maintenance at both Lake Forest School District and later, the Milford School District, from which he retired in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting; but in his later years, he really enjoyed deer hunting. Many enjoyable meals were shared with his friends at the Foxhunters Club, as well as, breakfast with family and friends at West Side Restaurant in Milford and trips to Cabela's sporting goods store. Frank was a lifetime member of North Bowers Beach Fire Company where he had the title of fire police as well as fire police for Kent County. He was also a member of the Harrington Moose and NRA.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Ann Spence; two sons, Paul Spence of Frederica and Brian Spence of Lindenwold, N.J.; a brother, Doug Spence of Hilliard, Ohio; a sister, Regina Stevenson of Leesburg, Fla.; along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lester and Joyce Beebe of Lincoln, and James and Carolyn Beebe of Mountain City, Tenn.
As per Frank's wishes, services will be private.
