FRANKFORD – A multi-generation orchard known for its peaches and other produce has garnered a spot on the Cooking Channel tonight.

Peaches and Bennett Orchards in Frankford are to be featured Tuesday night at 9 as part of the season premiere of “Man v. Food” on the Cooking Channel.

“It’s really exciting for us,” said Henry Bennett, sixth-generation owner of the family orchard off Armory Road.

In the episode, show host Casey Webb’s quest for the best brings him to Delaware’s beaches for coastal dishes that included an ice cream custard and a brewery that blends two beloved bar foods. Dogfish Head Brew Pub and Dickey’s Frozen Custard are among those featured.

Peaches used by the restaurants are grown in Bennett’s 60-acre peach orchard that features about 7,000 peach trees. Messina peaches are featured in the episode.

“We provided the peaches for one of the dishes,” said Henry Bennett. “Because we are suppliers, they kind of reached out to us about showing up that day.”

Filming for the episode featuring Bennett Orchards was done back in August during the peak of peach season, Mr. Bennett said. Footage includes Bennett Orchards dropping off a truck full of peaches, and information on peach varieties.

Dogfish Head Brew Pub, in a Monday Facebook post, announced it has “been holding onto a delicious secret for a while now, and we’re so excited to share that the Dogfish Head Brewpub will be featured on Man v. Food … Tuesday Dec. 28, at 9 p.m. EST! Casey from Cooking Channel #ManvFood stopped by to dig into a scratch-made specialty with Chef Zach.”

This is the 10th season for “Man vs. Food,” a food reality television series that premiered in December 2008 on the Travel Channel. It ran for several years. Travel Channel then revived the series in 2017, with Casey Webb as host. The show moved to the Cooking Channel for its eighth season in 2019.
