Frank A. Smith

HARTLY - Frank A. Smith passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, in his daughter's home in Naples, N.Y., surrounded by his loving family. He was 91. Frank was born on April 2, 1920, in Prattsburg, N.Y., son of the late Floyd and Mabel (Whetmore) Smith. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an instructor and certifying agent for Boeing Aircraft. Frank was a member of the VFW, AARP, and the Modern Maturity Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Zella Smith in 2005; and a daughter, Pat Smith. Frank is survived by three daughters, Karen Martin, and Debra Webster, both of Naples, N.Y., and Laura Baker of Frederica; one stepdaughter, Sandra Sweetman of Hartly and Carol Sweetman, step-daughter-in-law, of Townsend; two sisters, Margaret Hanson of Ocala, Fla., and Florence Snyder of Naples, N.Y.; and a brother, Clarence Smith of Prattsburg, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
