Francis David Herson

HOCKESSIN - Francis David Herson, of Hockessin, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Cokesbury Village, Hockessin. He was 84. Mr. Herson was born on Feb. 15, 1926, in Newark, son of the late Rev. Dr. Frank and Jennie (McClellan) Herson. He received an associate degree from Wesley College in Dover and later graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II. Mr. Herson was employed as an accountant with McHugh Electric in Wilmington and retired after 30 years with the company. He was an avid gun collector especially interested in antique firearms. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge No 9 AF&AM in Milford and a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Herson was preceded in death by his wife, Helen F. Herson in 2003 and his sister, Jane Herson. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Holly H. and John Joseph of Milford; and two grandchildren, Kasey L. Barrow and Hillary L. Joseph. Services and burial will be held privately. The family has suggested memorial contributions to John Hopkins Parkinson Disease Center, JHOC Suite 5064, 601 Caroline St, Baltimore, MD 21287.
