Francis Allen Jarman

DOVER - Francis Allen Jarman, of Dover, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. He was born on April 26, 1931, in Camden, N.J. and was the son of the late Harry Barcus Jarman and Nellie Hickman Jarman. A graduate of Greensboro High School in Greensboro, Md., he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1952. Mr. Jarman worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Dover Air Force Base for many years and after retirement he sold real estate and later renovated homes. He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and travelling with his loving wife of 42 years, Shirley Shahan Jarman who survives him. Mr. Jarman was predeceased by his beloved sister, Clara and her husband Howard Stannahan; and a brother, Robert Jarman. In addition to his wife, Mr. Jarman is survived by two daughters, Brenda Jarman Kirby and her husband Bill of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Kathy Jarman Foxwell and her husband Larry and of Secretary, Md.; and four grandsons, Evan, Austin, Will and Patrick. Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro, at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in the Greensboro Cemetery.
