Frances Tharp McGill, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on February 3, 2026. She was born on August 31, 1942.
Frances graduated from Harrington High School, Class of 1960, and went on to earn her nursing degree from Jefferson School of Nursing in 1963. She devoted her life to caring for others and carried that compassion with her throughout her years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ethel Tharp, and her sister, Carole Ann Burke.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bill McGill, and her son, Jason McGill.
Known affectionately as Fran, she lived life with enthusiasm and adventure. She was a devoted bull-riding fan and proudly attended the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas for 25 consecutive years. In addition to her annual trips to Las Vegas, Fran was a world traveler and even lived in Thailand for a short period, embracing new cultures and experiences.
Despite her travels, Fran remained deeply proud of her Delaware roots and never lost sight of where she grew up. She loved animals and especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Chance.
Fran will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
Graveside services at Hollywood Cemetery, in Harrington, DE will be announced at a later date.
