Ziegler, 95 CLAYTON - Frances Naomi Ziegler, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at her home of 65 years, Alberta Farm, Clayton, Del. Frances was born Aug. 11, 1920 in Wilmington, Del., and was raised by the late Frances Lena Curry. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1939 and married Joseph H. Ziegler in 1940. During W.W.II, Fran worked at Ballanca Aircraft Corp., New Castle, Del.assembling gas tanks for airplanes for the war effort while Joe fought with the Marines in the Pacific. They moved to Alberta Farm in 1951 where they raised their family. Fran retired from the Smyrna School District after 22 years as the John Bassett Moore High School Cafeteria Manager. She was past president of the Delaware State School Food Service Organization, Past President of the Federated Women's Clayton Century Club, 50+ year charter member of the Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of Ewell's St. Paul United Methodist Church and volunteered Kent General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Ziegler; grandson, John Elmer Shetzler, IV (Jes); granddaughter, Abigail Susan Shetzler; and "Mother" Frances Lena Curry. Fran is survived by three daughters, Eunice Z. Craig (Jerry), Susan Z. Shetzler (John) and Janet Z. Brown (Tom); one son, Joseph M. Ziegler; eight grandchildren, M. Gregory Reed, Jennifer Craig Purcell, Candace Shetzler Gunter, R. Jerald Craig, Jr, Joseph Terry (JT) Ziegler, Allison Ziegler, Emily Shetzler and Jes Shetzler; and twelve great grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden, DE.
