DOVER - Frances Modlin Boyette of Dover went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at State Street Assisted Living. She slipped gracefully and peacefully away. She lived 82 wonderful and full years. Her last months were marked by significant decline as she dealt with advancing dementia. Born in Ahoskie, N.C., on Feb. 7, 1929, she was the daughter of Herbert & Ruby Modlin. Frances and her family moved to Kent County in 1965 and she lived in Briar Park for many years. While in Delaware, she was secretary at People's Church of Dover, secretary in the office of the Peninsula Conference of The United Methodist Church, and a teller with The First National Bank of Wyoming from which she retired. For more than 45 years, Frances was an active member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church of Camden. Together with her husband, she was the adult leader of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship in the church for a number of years. She served in many leadership positions in the church including as chair of the Missions Committee and as an officer in the Whatcoat Women for Christ. Her faith was extremely important to her and until her health declined she was present in worship virtually every Sunday. She was also a member of the Delmarva and the Chesapeake Emmaus Communities. In addition to her church activities, over the years she served as an adult leader for Cub Scout Packs in which her son was involved and in Girl Scout Troops in which her daughter was involved. She was also an active member of The Wyoming-Camden Roundtable Club, in which she served for a time as an officer. Frances is survived by two children, Keith Boyette and his spouse Pamela, of Spotsylvania, Va., and Kathy Main and her spouse Caroll, of Felton; by seven grandchildren, Jamie Klecan (Danny) of Milford, Jason Boyette of Spotsylvania, Va., Danielle Haley (Derek) of Wilmington, Nathan Boyette (HanSoon) of Spotsylvania, Va., Juliette Comegys (Eric) of Marydel, Laura Boyette of Spotsylvania, Va., and Amber Vanover (Kyle) of Ashland, Ky.; by four great-grandchildren, Ryan Boyette, Jake Klecan, Noah Boyette and Jack Comegys; by three brothers, James Modlin of Ohio, Philip Modlin of Virginia, and Lewis Modlin of North Carolina; and by one sister, Blanche Utley of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Boyette; by her parents, Herbert and Ruby Modlin; by two brothers, Robert and Marvin Modlin; and by one sister, Paige Harrell. A service celebrating Frances' life and homecoming will be held at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St. Camden, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 2. Interment will follow at Sharon Hills Cemetery in Dover. The family will receive friends at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, in Wyoming, on Wednesday, June 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. The family rejoices in the grace God gave Frances to live her life well in relationship with Jesus and in the confidence that she now lives forever in the presence of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We give thanks that the difficult journey of recent months has come to an end by God's mercy and we take comfort in knowing His peace. The family thanks the staff of State Street Assisted Living and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving and kind care for Frances over the last months of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934, or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 910 D Walker Rd., Dover, DE 19904.
