GREENSBORO, N.C. - Frances Ida Stopfer Vesco, formerly of Felton/Frederica, left behind the worries and discomforts of this life Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, with her family by her side. She was 85. She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Clifton, N.J., and was the daughter of Peter and Ida (Koppenaal) Capor. She lived with her daughter Bettylou Eckenrod and son-in-law Roger for the last years of her life. Frances worked at the Ace Dress Company and General Foods, where she retired in 1981. Prior to that she was a homemaker who enjoyed life on the farm. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and was an exceptional baker. She knitted and crocheted items for the newborns, Hospice and nursing homes. She was an active member of her church, Busy Bee's Crafters, Christian Women's Club, Bible Study Fellowship, and had many friends near and far that she stayed in contact with. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Max Stopfer of Felton, and Jay Vesco of Greensboro, N.C. Missing her until we meet again are her daughters, Maxine (Tony) Tayeb, of Felton, Bettylou (Roger) Eckenrod, of Greensboro, N.C.; brother, Jack (Carol) Capor, of Toms River, N.J.; sisters, Gloria (Chuck) Farrell and Beatrice (John) Feeney, of Clayton, N.C.; five grandchildren and their families, Francy Dennin, of Felton, Brenda (Dave) Ptak, of Milford, Paul (Sarah) Eckenrod, Amanda (David) Young, and Adrian (Laura) Eckenrod, of Greensboro, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Brenda Lynn Bell, of Felton, Jennifer and Melissa Ptak, of Milford, David Allen and Brandon Young, Alex and Danielle Eckenrod, of Greensboro, N.C.; a very dear friend, Marie Edge of Frederica; and many other relatives and friends throughout the country. A celebration of Frances's life will be held in Greensboro on her birthday, Jan. 23rd. Her remains will be entombed at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro. In honor of her love of animals, and instead of flowers, donations may be made to your local SPCA.
