MacKinney Hanna DOVER - Frances Elizabeth MacKinney Hanna, beloved wife of James Hanna of Dover, peacefully passed on to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 11, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Daniel and Verne MacKinney. She was born in Hastings, Minnesota, to Paul Judson MacKinney and Leda Irene Ballard MacKinney, ministers of the Gospel to many northern states and Goose Bay, Labrador. After graduating from Northcentral Bible College in Minnesota, Mrs. Hanna went to Labrador, Canada to assist in the ministry of her parents, where she also taught school for Native children and met her husband, James Hanna. Frances was previously an employee of J.C. Penney and was retired from a career with the State of Delaware. She was an active member of Faith Community Church and Bible Fellowship Church, where she taught, sang, and played piano and organ for many years. She was known for her gift of prayer on behalf of others, and for unconditionally loving her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and being involved in their lives. Frances is survived by her husband, James Milton Hanna, to whom she was married almost 59 years; her sister, Beulah and her husband, Emil Williams; four brothers including David MacKinney, Mark MacKinney, Paul MacKinney and his wife, Betty, and Samuel MacKinney and his wife, Hannalore; one sister-in-law, Freida and her husband, Kenneth Harrison. She is also survived by four children: James S. Hanna and wife, Linda; Rena Metzger and husband, Dennis; Nora Howell and husband, Glen; John Hanna; and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Hanna. Frances also had thirteen grandchildren: Richard Hanna and wife, Diana, Andrew, and David Hanna; April Echols and husband, Rusty, Ben Metzger and wife, Rachelle, Amy Fry and husband, Gabe, Nathaniel Metzger and wife, Katie; Lindsay, Katie, Mitch, and Annie Howell; and Christopher and Daniel Hanna. Mrs. Hanna also had six great-grandchildren: Natalie, Hunter, Lucas, Caiden, Alenna, and Maddox, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed very much by her family and friends. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of the life of Frances Hanna at a Memorial service on June 24th at 7 p.m. in the evening at Faith Community Church, 2240 S. Dupont Highway, Camden, DE 19934. Mr. Hanna suggests any memorial contributions be made to Hope Medical Clinic, Inc., 1121 Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904 or the Missions Fund of Faith Community Church.
