CAMBRIDGE — An apparent gunfight in the early hours of Sunday morning has left four individuals wounded.
The Cambridge Police Department received a call about 4:30 a.m. that there was a large crowd at a block party in the Weaver Avenue area of the city, where the shooting occurred.
“Four subjects were shot, two in the arm, one in the leg, one in the chest/torso area,” Capt. Justin Todd said in response to a request from the Banner for details on the incident. “The subject with a gunshot wound to the chest is at PRMC. Appears to be more than one firearm used, as casings from more than just one caliber of weapon were located. Investigation is continuing.”
The condition of the victims is not yet known.
None of the injuries had caused a fatality as of late Sunday morning.
The shootings took place after a string of nights in which local residents had their rest disturbed by loud explosions from fireworks. The noise and smell of burned chemicals was noticeable late Saturday night as far as a mile across town.
City officials are considering a curfew of Cambridge residents under the age of 18. A meeting will be held and livestreamed on townhallstreams.com on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
